One of the sneaky aspects of this question is that the definition of a SAM Manager might be tucked into the requirements of a IT Asset Manager or Director of IT. That being said, the payscale.com website reports a median of about 70K euros for an "IT Manager", with a range from 38K to 101K ( and that from 130 data points as of Sept 2015)
Likewise, an 'Asset Manager' reports a median of 50K euros ( 20K less!) with a range from 24K to only 70K. ( and only 10 datapoints on that one)
So, it looks like it pays to include SAM into ITAM... even though Software licensing (or lack of it) has more of an adverse cost-risk than hardware would have. go figure. Check it out at
