Automating Service Catalog, SLO Tool and SW Deployment. Any gotchas?
My company is looking at automating the connection between our Service Catalog (ServiceNow), our SLO tool (Snow) and our software deployment tool (SCCM). The end goal is to provide the ability to request software within the Service Catalog; perform an automated check within the SLO tool for licensing; if licensing is required, automatically generate and send the PO to the vendor; update the SLO tool with the new licensing details; and finally, kick off the software deployment in SCCM. The idea is to streamline this process to run the licensing check and software deployments concurrently, for select software titles to reduce the time from request to deployment from days to minutes.
In talking with the vendors, it doesn't seem like this has really been done too much by either of them to the fullest extent we are looking to complete. Has anybody performed this type of full integration and automation? If so, are there any gotchas I should look out for?
