Licensing Windows Server as VDI platform with a staging server....?
Server A is licensed with Windows Server DC and Windows Server Standard is used for the base OS for VDI for the users. So on Server A is "MyVDIX" repeated multiple times although they tend to "blow up" when not in use (the same way as you can do it for normal DesktopOS VDI environments).
For efficiency - MyVDIX is Streamed to an alternative server (lets call it Server B) where I as the happy user access it via my device and also stream Office, Visio and Project from an alternative source.
So Server A has Windows DC for unlimited VMs... easy peasy MyVDIX is streaming me Per User Office, Visio, Project,,, also easy peasy (although the 5 device limit will kick in)
Server B is merely hosting the streamed version that is licensed on Server A - how do i license the Windows Server aspect on Server B as this is additional hardware. Although is it? Its not actually there... well it is.. well it isn't...
Am advised this is a highly efficient route for technology use. I think you have to license server B to (at phyiscal level with DC) but there are many Server Bs in this profile and it starts getting very expensive.
